David Owens, PetFoodDirect professional Trainer gives a tip for training your puppy in reference to learning it’s name… “Call the puppy’s name as you feed him or her their meals or as you hand over a treat. In a few days (5 or 6) call the puppy a couple of seconds before giving the treat/meal. After the puppy is responding to you quickly, slowly start removing the treat and replace with playing and praise. For example, call the puppy and as he/she comes running toss a favorite toy or run from the puppy giving lots of praise and love and ending with praise. Eventually the praise and the play should be the majority of the rewards.
